Given that it was Europa League week we have four matches taking place on a much busier Sunday than we are used to this week and in among them there are a couple of intriguing matches as well as a heavyweight clash.
Manchester City reminded everyone that they are not going away on Saturday and so on Sunday the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will all be looking to deliver their answer to the challenge laid down.
Sunday’s fixtures are as follows:
Crystal Palace v Wolves (14.00)
West Ham v Man Utd (14.00)
Arsenal v Aston Villa (16.30)
Chelsea v Liverpool (16.30)
Preview
Two of these matches are on TV and two of them are away from the cameras and taking place because of the Europa League. The televised action begins at the London Stadium where West Ham will look to lay down their credentials for a place in the top six when they host Manchester United in a tricky affair for the visitors. The action then moves across the capital to Stamford Bridge where the two European competition winners from last season meet as Chelsea take on Liverpool for the second time this term after facing off in the Super Cup last month.
Although there are two games not on TV in the UK there are plenty of intrigue to them. Wolverhampton Wanderers look to kick their season into life when they head to Selhurst Park to face a Crystal Palace team who have flattered to deceive for too long now. Arsenal will look to bounce back from surrendering a winning position at Watford last week in the other game. They face an Aston Villa side who could do with a positive result of some kind.
Betting
I like a couple of overs over the course of the afternoon, with the first one coming at the London Stadium where both West Ham and Man Utd should both look to attack and should mix quite nicely for a few goals. Both teams have a better defensive record than you might expect this season but at the same time my own eyes tell me there is a weakness to both of them, especially in the wider areas, which I expect to be exploited. There is more than enough talent on both sides to find the back of the net and as such over 2.5 goals looks good to me in this one.
The second over which I like comes at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea look wide open at the back, albeit slightly better since the move to three at the back, but they have enough going forward to deliver the goods at the other end. Liverpool haven’t exactly pulled up trees defensively this season. Even Newcastle found the back of the net against them last week and they’re terrible so I’ve got to think that this will be a game with a lot of chances. Both attacking units are in good form so I think over 3 goals can land here.
