The seeded players enter the fray in the Dutch Darts Masters on Saturday with the leading names making their first appearance in the tournament as the last 32 takes place across two sessions of play out in Zwolle.
That means we will see the home hero and defending champion Michael van Gerwen on the stage for the first time this weekend, as well as the likes of Michael Smith, Peter Wright, Daryl Gurney and Ian White.
Afternoon Session
Two experienced campaigners get the action underway in the afternoon session on Saturday when Stephen Bunting meets Brendan Dolan before the former champion Simon Whitlock. He takes on Florian Hempel for a place in Sunday’s final day before two Dutchmen do battle when Jermaine Wattimena goes up against Danny Noppert. We head into the break with Ricky Evans looking to make it through when he faces Danny van Trijp.
There were meant to be four matches in the second half of the afternoon but with James Wade pulling out of the tournament we are down to three. Jonny Clayton brings us out of the break when he goes up against Dennis Nilsson before the match of the afternoon session as Gerwyn Price takes on Krzysztof Ratajski. The afternoon concludes with Darren Webster taking on the confident Austrian youngster Rowby-John Rodriguez.
Evening Session
The evening session is loaded with quality and it begins with Dave Chisnall taking on Steve Beaton in what is a huge banana skin for the seeded player before the form horse in Europe, Ian White, goes up against Mickey Mansell. Two good young players meet each other in the third match of the evening when Joe Cullen takes on Max Hopp before Michael van Gerwen faces William O’Connor to take us into the break.
We come out of the interval with Daryl Gurney taking on Mervyn King before the match of the round which sees Michael Smith going up against Raymond Barneveld. The last two matches of Saturday’s play sees Peter Wright taking on Ritchie Edhouse while Mensur Suljovic faces Vincent van der Voort in the final match of the evening.

Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets throughout the day here with the first of those coming in the afternoon session where Darren Webster looks vulnerable to me when he faces a Rowby-John Rodriguez who averaged well over 100 in his win on Friday. Webster hasn’t been pulling up any trees on the European Tour circuit this season and while he made the quarter final of the last one his three averages for the weekend were 90.86, 92.62 and 85.62. They don’t win many matches at this level so he needs to up his game here. Rodriguez is cocky but classy and doesn’t have a huge amount to lose here. I think he is a bit too big to win this one.
I’ll also take on Joe Cullen in the evening session. He has lost in the first match in five of his last six tournaments and the last four he has been beaten by Madars Razma, Adrian Gray, Mark Webster and Mark McGeeney. With the exception of the latter they are not players who should be beating Cullen so all might not be well in his camp at the minute. I’m not the biggest fan of Max Hopp I think it is fair to say but I do like him a lot more away from the pressures he faces when in Germany. He showed decent poise to see off UK Open champion Nathan Aspinall on Friday and is value to follow that up on Saturday.
