The remaining matches in the latest round in the Specsavers County Championship get underway on Monday and there are a couple of tasty clashes among the five fixtures taking place over the four days.
Unfortunately it looks like we are going to have a dodge a little bit of weather over the course of the four days but it should only be showers so hopefully it won’t be too bad and we can enjoy plenty of action from these matches.

Division One
The big match in Division One this week comes from Guildford where the defending champions Surrey take on the side who were leading the way when the competition returned from the 50 over break in Somerset. Leaders Hampshire aren’t on show this week so Somerset will go back to the top with a decent outing. The other two matches sees the basement pair colliding at Edgbaston as Warwickshire host Nottinghamshire while former winners Yorkshire and Essex do battle at Headingley.
Division Two
After two matches began in this division on Sunday there are two more to get going on Monday with one of those seeing the leaders Lancashire on show when they play host to Leicestershire at Liverpool. The other match sees the second placed side Derbyshire making the relatively long trip to Chester-le-Street to take on a Durham side who have made a rotten start to their Championship campaign.
Betting
I’ll go with just the one bet here which comes in the match between Surrey and Somerset down in Guildford. I like the visitors here. They dominated a draw against Surrey a few weeks ago and with Surrey looking all at sea with the bat against Warwickshire last week and surrendering to a tame loss I fancy that they could be there for the taking.
You would have had to have been in a bunker for the last few weeks not to notice the excellent start to the season that Somerset have had to both this campaign and obviously the 50 over event which culminated in title success. Now is the time to knuckle back down to work and focus on winning the big one and they could take a massive step towards that by winning here. At 11/10 they are very much the bet.
