Big Matches

The televised action comes from the Madejski Stadium where the leaders Reading will look to re-establish their five point lead at the top of the table for a few hours when they play host to an inconsistent Stoke City side. Were the Royals to lose then Swansea City could go to the top of the table with a win although they are involved in a huge game at Norwich City in what is a battle of fourth against third with plenty on the line in that one. Watford and Bournemouth are the other members of the top six and they host Coventry City and travel to Birmingham City respectively.

Best of the Rest

The three teams immediately outside the play-off places are all on the road on Saturday. Middlesbrough go to Brentford in one of the better matches away from the centre of attention while Millwall make the trip to Hillsborough to take on Sheffield Wednesday who will be looking to build on their win over Bournemouth in midweek. Luton Town will be looking to pick up a sixth consecutive win in Yorkshire when they take on Huddersfield Town. Down at the bottom end of the table Nottingham Forest take on Wycombe Wanderers while second from bottom Derby County host an improving Barnsley.

Betting

My own team Luton Town served me well in midweek and I’m not going to desert them here either. They won at Huddersfield Town at the back end of last season when everything was on the line for them so they can play with a little more freedom on Saturday and come away with a similar result. Huddersfield Town have lacked consistency ever since they came into this division and now they are trying to adopt a different style which is clearly taking some time to get used to.

Luton only played on Wednesday night so that is a negative but the positive from that is they have been clever enough to stay in Yorkshire since then so they haven’t wasted a day travelling and things which should help here. Nathan Jones made six changes in midweek and they won at Rotherham so he has options to freshen up his pack should he need to. Huddersfield have lost three of their last four matches so they are hardly in blinding form so the Hatters could be underrated here.
