2020 WDF Remote Darts League 2 – Saturday 30th May Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Remote Darts League continues on Saturday evening where we have the defending champion James Richardson in action for the third time in the campaign. He goes up against three other players who will look to continue to keep us entertained from their homes.

The cream is beginning to rise to the top of the table now and with just two sets of outings left for the four players after this one, every match and each point is beginning to take on extra significance and carry more importance.

The Format

The league phase of the competition will see the 16 players play each other once over the best of 10 legs across the first 20 nights of the season, with two points for a win and one for a draw. Four players play each night and compete in three matches in the sessions they play, so all 16 players will play in just five of the first 20 evenings of the campaign.

At the end of the league phase the top four will go into the playoffs on the final night where the semi-finals are played over the best of 15 legs and the winner will be determined over the best of 19 legs. The entire tournament is being streamed on the Remote Darts League YouTube channel and various bookmaker websites.

Friday Recap

It was another competitive night of darts on Friday evening, one in which Richard Veenstra made his move, coming away with three wins from his three matches to catapult himself right into the mix. The night began with Thibault Tricole whitewashing Laura Turner before Veenstra beat Jim Williams for his first win. Williams then beat Turner 6-2 before Veenstra got the better of Tricole by the same score. There was another 6-2 success for Veenstra over Turner before the night ended with a 5-5 draw between Tricole and Williams.

That last result was a nice one for us because our only bet on the night was for Tricole to draw or win his match against Williams. That looked unlikely as Tricole trailed 4-2 but he got it back to 4-4 only to throw a horrendous leg with the darts and get broken again. Thankfully Williams missed countless doubles to win the final leg and Tricole picked his pocket with a 124 checkout to land us our bet!

Preview

All eyes will be on the reigning champion James Richardson although much of his play will come in the second part of the evening. We have the New Zealand player Darren Herewini and Lorraine Winstanley opening the show before Richardson goes up against the current Winmau World Master of last year, John O’Shea. O’Shea then stays on to play Herewini in what should be a decent enough game.

It then becomes the Richardson show. He will be expected to get the better of Lorraine Winstanley and if he has come through the evening to that point unscathed, he will have the chance to go back to the top of the table when he faces Herewini in the penultimate match of the evening. John O’Shea closes out the night knowing full well that there is no room for him to slip up against Winstanley if he is to make the top four.

Betting

There aren’t too many great betting opportunities floating around over the course of the night on Saturday but one does come in the penultimate game of the evening as James Richardson goes up against Darren Herewini in a match we have to expect the champion to come out on top in, and given that he has the throw in the match, if he does win it should be fairly natural that he covers a 2.5 leg handicap in the process.

As I’ve said before in this competition, it is only the one break of throw needed for Richardson to cover this line, whereas if he threw second he would need to break twice. Obviously unless he does it in the last leg, if he doesn’t break throw at all he doesn’t win so rather than taking the short price it is worth taking Richardson to win 6-3 or easier. In his last night on show Richardson recorded two 100+ averages. Herewini has only had one 90+ average in six matches. Richardson should win and have plenty in hand in doing so.

Tips

Back J.Richardson (-2.5 legs) to beat Herewini for a 3/10 stake at 1.83 with Bet365
