There is a big match in the Premier League on Tuesday night when the leaders going into the round of matches Leicester host Man City in a top of the table clash. A win for the Foxes will see them go back to the summit heading into the New Year while a City win moves them up to second so there is plenty to go for here.
There will be a bit of attention on Leicester in this match given their defeat at Anfield on Boxing Day. Those who have waited for their bubble to burst will be wondering if that has now begun. I don’t think Claudio Ranieri and his men will be worried about that though so it will be interesting to see if they can play with the freedom they’ve entertained us with so far this season.
Man City have been something of an enigma this season. They have been very emphatic at home but woeful on the road and the latter is a trend they will need to buck if they are going to go on and regain the Premier League title.
Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were both taken off at Anfield with viruses but they have both recovered and are fit to play in this match which is massive for Leicester’s chances. All eyes will be on those two who have been stars of the campaign so far.
The big team news for Man City is that their captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out. City are a different side without him and that has to be a concern for them. Sergio Aguero could be back in the side which is a boost but as we saw at Arsenal last week even his presence is no guarantee for success.
You have to go back until the 12th September for the last time Man City won on the road in the Premier League and that in a nutshell is going to be their issue in this match. In that time they have been thrashed at Spurs, failed to win at Old Trafford and lost at Stoke and Arsenal.
Leicester have seen off Chelsea on this ground and they have held Man Utd and Tottenham. It was only Arsenal who have really got the better of them here and there is no shame in that because that is a horrible match up for the Foxes.
I think Leicester can get something out of this match even if it is only a draw so I like them with a huge looking Asian handicap at a big price given City’s woes on the road. I wouldn’t put anyone off taking Leicester on the nose too.
I’m expecting some goals in this match. City’s defence without Kompany is exposed time and time again and Leicester have the men to exploit that but going the other way you would think the likes of David Silva, Yaya Toure, Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero can have the same effect on the Leicester defence so I like the over 2.75 goals here.
