Belgian Darts Open 2023 – Last 32 Tips and Betting Preview

The second day of the Belgian Darts Open takes place on Saturday and it sees the seeded players entering the latest European Tour event of the season when they go up against one of the Friday winners for a place in the last 16.

Sunday is finals day in this tournament but in order for players to get there they have to win on Saturday. Over the course of the two sessions we will see the likes of Michael Smith, Michael van Gerwen and the defending champion Dave Chisnall getting their competition underway.

Afternoon Session

The action begins one of the two home players left in the tournament taking to the stage when the WDF number one Andy Baetens goes up against the beaten finalist in this last year in UK Open champion Andrew Gilding. Rob Cross follows those onto the stage when he meets Stefan Bellmont before Joe Cullen looks to put a disappointing display last week behind him when he meets Matt Campbell. We head to the halfway mark with our outright bet Danny Noppert going up against Ted Evetts.

Damon Heta is the seed who will open up the second half of the afternoon when he takes on Damian Mol before the German player Martin Schindler goes up against Daryl Gurney in what looks like a good match. The last two matches of the afternoon are crackers. The first of them sees practice partners colliding when Gary Anderson, who was extremely impressive in the opening round, meets Ryan Searle before the session concludes with Jonny Clayton facing Keane Barry.

Evening Session

A loaded evening session begins with the Premier League star Nathan Aspinall meeting the Dutch player Martijn Kleermaker before two of the brighter young players in the game meet in the second game when the number one seed Luke Humphries takes on Bradley Brooks. The defending champion Dave Chisnall begins his title defence in the third match of the evening when he meets Ricky Evans and we head to the halfway mark on the evening with two Dutch players battling it out when Dirk van Duijvenbode takes on the legend Raymond van Barneveld.

The second part of the evening is absolutely superb on paper and it begins with the former world champion Peter Wright taking on Gabriel Clemens before Michael van Gerwen goes up against Jose de Sousa in what should be a power scoring clash. We have two Premier League stars on show in the penultimate match of the night when the world champion Michael Smith meets the home ace Dimitri Van den Bergh and the day concludes with Josh Rock facing Chris Dobey in another potential cracker.

Betting

The form of Peter Wright has been poor and a concern for far too long and he must be vulnerable against a Gabriel Clemens who should be feeling really good about his chances after his emphatic 6-0 win over Graham Usher in the first round on Friday. Usher is a competent player who has had some decent results this season so for Clemens to dispatch him in the manner that he did is very much encouraging for his chances here.

Another thing which will give Clemens encouragement here is the fact that he has won the last two meetings with Wright so that, coupled with his win over Usher and the poor form of Wright makes the odds against on the German Giant look tasty. Wright did offer a little more on the European Tour last week but then exited with a 90 average and then couldn’t reach that number in the Premier League on Thursday night. There is just no consistency to the Wright form at the minute so I’ll take Clemens here.
