The Euro 2024 qualifying competition continues on Sunday when the four groups who were in action on Thursday evening are back on show over the course of a day where we will get closer to determining who will go through to the main draw in Germany.
It is a big night for the likes of Spain, Croatia and one or two others as these groups head towards the business end of the competition where every match is beginning to carry more significance than they did previously.
Group A
It could be a big night for Scotland even though they are not even playing as it is the night where they could secure their qualification. That will happen should Spain beat Norway. That would mean Spain will move level on points with the Scots but Steve Clarke’s men would be assured of second spot at least. The other match in the group gets the action underway for the day when Georgia go up against a Cyprus side who appear to have fallen apart in recent times.
Group D
It is a big night in Group D as well as Turkey have the chance to secure their place in the finals when they host Latvia. It is possible that Turkey qualify with a draw but a win will certainly ensure that they are off to Germany unless Wales beat Croatia in the other game in Cardiff. Anything but a Wales win in that match would leave the Croatians needing just a point in the final international break to secure their own qualification.

Group E
Group E became interesting on Thursday evening when Albania took a huge step to qualifying for the finals but they are not in action on Sunday so the chasing pack have the chance to gather in behind them. Poland can move to within a point of Albania when they play host to Moldova in the later of the two matches to kick off. Before then, Czech Republic look to make up for their mauling at the hands of Albania when they host the Faroe Islands in a match they simply can’t afford to slip up in.
Group I
Usually there would be three matches in Group I but with the issues going on with Israel right now they have had their match against Kosovo postponed which leaves us with the two games to focus on. The earlier kick off will see Switzerland looking to move a step closer to qualifying for the main draw when they host Belarus while Romania will be looking to enhance their chances of making it into the tournament when Andorra are their visitors.
Betting
Croatia were brought down to earth a little on Thursday night when Turkey went to their shores and beat them but I would expect the former World Cup finalists to bounce back when they head to Cardiff to take on a Wales side who look at least one, if not two, classes below Croatia. Croatia have taken their foot off the gas twice in this qualifying group and paid the price for it on both occasions so I expect a much more focused Croatia performance here.
Wales are not as good as they were a Euros or two ago and injuries to Brennan Johnson and Aaron Ramsey certainly isn’t going to help them any in this match. The latter could be a big loss as it leaves a selection of EFL players up against the likes of Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic and Marcelo Brozovic and that feels like a mismatch which the Croatians can exploit. Croatia are missing some real attacking talent but they should still have enough to get past a depleted and average Wales side.
