The second day of the European Masters in Furth sees the remainder of the first round of the competition drawing to a close with a bunch of matches which will see the line up for the second round completed.
All those who are yet to play in the main draw will do so on Wednesday which means we will see the likes of Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson, Mark Williams and Shaun Murphy in the main draw for the first time this week.
Morning Session
The action begins on Wednesday with a couple of recognisable names with Shaun Murphy being the highest ranked player on show. With World Championship final points coming off at the end of the season this is a big campaign for Murphy so he is under pressure to get off to a winning start for the week when he takes on Zhang Anda. The other recognisable player on show in this session is Yan Bingtao. The Chinese star meets Dylan Emery. The three other matches sees Michael Judge facing Daniel Wells, Oliver Lines taking on Andrew Higginson and Farakh Ajaib meeting Barry Pinches.
Afternoon Session
Kyren Wilson is the star act in the afternoon session on Wednesday. He will take on Lyu Haotian in the pick of the matches. Barry Hawkins is another big name looking to move into the second round of the tournament. If he is going to get there then he needs to get the better of the talented Aaron Hill. Four other matches take place in this session and they include Jackson Page meeting Yuan Sijun, Stuart Carrington taking on Jordan Brown and Jak Jones facing Robert Milkins. The other match sees Mark Joyce facing Sean O’Sullivan.

Evening Session
Three star names light up the evening session in Germany on Wednesday with Judd Trump the highest ranked of them. The world finalist will have the advantage of already having played a match this week when he meets Ashley Hugill. Mark Williams and Jack Lisowski both made it here safely and they are both on show in this session. The Welshman meets Sanderson Lam while Lisowski takes on Matthew Stevens. The other three matches sees Anthony Hamilton facing Jamie Jones, Mitchell Mann going up against Ricky Walden and Dominic Dale against Jimmy White.
Betting
Jack Lisowski isn’t always the fastest starter to a season and the fact that his British Open qualifying match has been held over to the main venue means that he hasn’t played a competitive match in almost a month so he could be vulnerable against a Matthew Stevens who had a good win over Stephen Maguire to make it through to the final stages of that tournament last week and who needs to keep mounting up the wins to get his ranking away from the trap door.
You feel like this is a big season for Stevens and the fact he has begun it positively by qualifying for this tournament and the British Open suggests he is aware of it as well so I expect to see him in good form in this match. Lisowski is so talented he can just turn it on from nowhere but if he is slightly off it then you would think Stevens will be there to take advantage. These two met at the World Championship where Lisowski was on good form but he only won 10-8 so a rustier version could well be there for the taking.
