The Indian Premier League continues on Tuesday when the Rising Pune Supergiant takes on the Delhi Daredevils in the showpiece competition. Both sides have made less than ideal starts to the competition so both will be eager for a win in this one.
Rising Pune Supergiant
It is won one and lost one for the Supergiant in the tournament so far although that would have been two defeats in a row had it not been for Mumbai dropping catches in the opening match of their season. That isn’t necessarily a surprise because Pune look to be having plenty of issues on and off the field.
In both matches so far there has been the MS Dhoni and the captaincy situation undercurrent taking place and the reason why they could have lost both matches is their death bowling or lack of it. You get the feeling Pune are searching for something which they should already have but it is hard to fall on combinations as you go along in this tournament.
Delhi Daredevils
This is only the second match of the tournament for the Delhi Daredevils. They were right in their opening match for long periods but couldn’t quite get over the line in their run chase against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. While the collapse which cost them the match was the negative, especially with their batting the doubt over them to begin with, there were positives to take.
The main positive was in the bowling especially at the end of the innings. We have seen many teams lack in the later overs with the ball this season but Delhi aren’t one of them and that could serve them well as the tournament goes on especially if they can find a bit of batting depth to put up the sizeable totals.
Team News
It remains to be seen what the Rising Pune Supergiant do with their side but I would be surprised if there isn’t a spot in it somewhere for Adam Zampa. Dan Christian may sit this out for another overseas option whether that is Zampa or not.
Angelo Mathews is now in the country but it appears this match has come too soon for him so the Delhi Daredevils could be unchanged unless they want to rotate their bowlers in some way.

Betting
I like one main bet in this match and it comes in the form of the Delhi Daredevils to win the match. There are concerns over their batting and we shouldn’t hide away from that fact but the death bowling of the Rising Pune Supergiant offsets some of that concern.
In fact if Delhi are careful then it should enhance their chances as they should know there is no need to go too mad up top. If they keep wickets in hand for the end they should still reach a total capable of winning. Whether they bat first or second I would back this Delhi bowling attack to get the job done and at solid odds against they are the call.
I happen to think that Pat Cummins could be worth a go in the top Delhi Daredevils batsman market. It is a longshot but I don’t think he is 100/1. The way the bowlers are used for the Supergiant it would be no surprise if someone batting at the death piles on the runs. Cummins can smack a ball so if it is him at the death he isn’t without a chance at a silly price.
