It is Friday and that means another Toronto FC home match as the latest weekend begins in the MLS. This time the visitors to BMO Field are Houston Dynamo who are going well in the Western Conference.
Both these sides have the chance to make significant moves in the respective conferences by gaining a win here so that adds to the competitiveness of this contest.
Toronto FC
Toronto picked up their first home win of the campaign last week when they took care of the Chicago Fire and they will be looking to pick up a run of wins in their home stadium to get them back in the playoff picture after suffering late season heartache last year. In three matches at home Toronto are undefeated this season.
One of the reasons for that has been their potent strike duo of Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco, the latter of whom was in amazing form last week scoring a couple of goals in the win over Chicago. The other reason for Toronto’s good form has been their defence which has been getting harder to break down for a while now.
Houston Dynamo
The Houston Dynamo have got off to a much better start to this season than they have the previous two and they could well become genuine dangers in the Western Conference this season especially if they can find some points on the road. They have lost both their away games so far in this campaign which might be a concern.
Overall though I’m sure the Dynamo hierarchy will be delighted with their start to the season especially given that they are blending in a new style. They have a much more technical outlook about them this season which could serve them well in this match as will the pace they have on the counter attack.
Team News
Toronto FC are going to be without Drew Moor and Clint Irwin again. Both face spells on the injury table as does Ashtone Morgan who has a stress fracture in his foot.
AJ DeLaGarza has a calf strain which makes him questionable for this match while Leonardo is also a doubt along with Ricardo Clark. George Malki is out for the entire campaign.
Betting
This is only Houston Dynamo’s third away match of the season but given their results in the previous two and how hard we know Toronto is to win at you would think the home side are good things here but Toronto don’t have the best of records against Houston for some reason so instead of betting on the match outcome I’ll go for the goals.
I do believe Toronto will score in this match. Houston have conceded at least a couple of goals in each of their away games so far but I think the Dynamo will be dangerous on the counter so I’m expecting plenty of Friday night goals here. Toronto beat Chicago 3-1 last week and a similar score looks perfectly possible here.
