There is a midweek round of matches in the MLS this week with seven fixtures in the league scheduled for Wednesday evening. The top of both tables will be in focus throughout the course of the evening into the early hours of Thursday morning for those of us in the UK.
We are resigned to the streams of the bookmakers for these matches with none of them being on TV in the UK but at least we still have access to each match.
Wednesday’s matches are as follows: (UK kick off time in brackets)
Columbus Crew vs Los Angeles Galaxy (00.30)
DC United vs Atlanta United (00.30)
FC Dallas vs Houston Dynamo (01.00)
Toronto FC vs Philadelphia Union (01.00)
Real Salt Lake vs San Jose Earthquakes (03.00)
Vancouver Whitecaps vs Seattle Sounders (03.00)
Portland Timbers vs Colorado Rapids (03.30)
Big Matches
Both Conference leaders are in action across the card on Wednesday evening. The leaders in the West, Seattle Seahawks, head to Vancouver for what looks like a tricky match while the East table toppers Toronto FC play host to Philadelphia Union.
Best of the Rest
Columbus Crew meet Los Angeles Galaxy in an important match for both sides while Atlanta United will look to regain a play-off spot when they head to DC United. FC Dallas will look to overcome their poor trot when they host Houston in a Texas derby while Real Salt Lake and San Jose Earthquakes will be significant in the West. Portland host Colorado in the other game.

Betting
This midweek round is not the easier set of fixtures I’ve ever seen. In truth there isn’t a lot I like but I do believe Atlanta United will be chomping at the bit to get back in action after more than two weeks since their last MLS game.
They head to DC United, who have beaten them twice, but Atlata have dominated both matches so I don’t see lightning striking for a third time. DC ended a long run without a win at the weekend but even that was not convincing. They have a real lack of goals about them which Atlanta should exploit.
The head to head between the two is concerning I must admit but nine times out of 10 Atlanta would have won both matches so I am on the newbies to get another three points.
