We continue to head towards the conclusion of the MLS 2023 regular season on Wednesday evening when two matches take place across the two Conferences with four teams having the chance to enhance their position in the standings.
As ever both matches are live with full coverage on the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV but these two games are also free for anyone with an Apple TV subscription. They are also available with the bookmaker live streaming consoles.
Philadelphia Union vs FC Dallas (00.30)
The opening match of the night certainly carries plenty of importance in the playoff picture as the MLS Cup finalists of last season, Philadelphia Union, host an FC Dallas side who will be aiming to get into the postseason, something which isn’t guaranteed.
Dallas currently occupy the last of the preliminary round places in the table but a win here would move them into the main draw for the playoffs. A defeat would keep the door for a number of chasers to pip them at the post so this is certainly an important match for the visitors. The Union haven’t tied up home advantage in the best-of-three stage of the playoffs and a win here would go a long way towards doing that so it isn’t a game they are going to take lightly. I like Philadelphia to win the game but the better bet given that FC Dallas can’t afford to lose is over 2.5 goals here. Dallas have scored in their last eight matches and only kept one clean sheet in that time while Philadelphia’s blank last time out was their first in nine and they have only kept two clean sheets in that time. These two attacks have two of the best focal points in the league in their ranks and a very good support cast. We should be treated to a game with plenty of goal action to open up the night.

Colorado Rapids vs Vancouver Whitecaps (02.30)
The second match of the night only really carries any significance for the away side as the Vancouver Whitecaps cross the border to take on the Colorado Rapids knowing that the Canucks can move into the top four of the Western Conference with a win.
That would be important because with matches running out they would be in control of their own destiny when it comes to hosting two of the three games in the opening round of the playoffs which is a position every team wants to be in. Colorado Rapids are just playing out time on this season and there haven’t been any signs that they are improving any. Ordinarily I’d be all over the Vancouver Whitecaps in this match but incredibly this is their seventh straight away game and in this division that is going to take its toll, as we’ve seen with successive defeats in their last two games. I’ve no interest in the Rapids so this is a fairly easy match to leave alone.
