The MLS 2024 weekend concludes on Sunday night with a couple of matches with four teams from the Eastern Conference battling it out for position in the relatively early league table as all sides start to build up a head of steam.
This weekend all of the matches will be available for free for Apple TV subscribers so you don’t need the MLS Season Pass to watch them. If you don’t subscribe to Apple TV then you can catch them via the bookmaker live streams.
New England Revolution vs FC Cincinnati (18.00)
The last two winners of the Supporters’ Shield open up the action on Sunday when the New England Revolution host the team who took that trophy off of them with FC Cincinnati the visitors to the Gillette Stadium.
As so many sides who are involved in Champions Cup action seem to do, New England Revolution have made an ordinary start to their MLS campaign, losing their first three matches which includes being battered by Atlanta United last weekend. FC Cincinnati are bucking that trend though, although their Champions Cup campaign is already done so perhaps that is a reason why they have been able to remain unbeaten in MLS so far, although they have drawn two of their matches 0-0 so they will be looking to find a bit more fluency in attacking areas. That will come but they are having to find other combinations in light of losing Brandon Vasquez in the close season. The Revs look like they have goals in them but they are conceding quite a few too which is never a great combination. This probably wouldn’t have been a match I wanted to be involved in anyway given both have had Champions Cup action but with Cincinnati getting up to speed and New England now convincing I’m happy to leave this one alone.

Atlanta United vs Orlando City (23.00)
The last match of the weekend comes from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium where Atlanta United play host to the side they entered MLS with in the form of Orlando City in a clash which is a bit of a rivalry given their arrivals into the league at the same time.
This one is always a keenly contested affair and this one should be no different. Atlanta looked their brilliant best when they demolished the New England Revolution last week and with Orlando having conceded 12 goals to Inter Miami, Minnesota United and Tigres in the last couple of weeks, the home side here will be gunning for blood. This could be a tough assignment for Orlando having been in Mexico for Champions Cup duty earlier in the week. Where their defence has come apart at the seams, it does look like they have goals in them. They did score twice against Tigres and twice against Minnesota so their attacking play looks in decent enough order even if their defence isn’t as tight as they would like. When you club that all together that makes me think the 3 goal line is a bit too low, especially with Atlanta having shown they can cover that on their own.
