Week 10 of the NFL season gets underway as always with the Thursday Night Football which this week sees two teams who are enjoying fine campaigns going up against each other when the Pittsburgh Steelers play host to the Carolina Panthers.
Both sides are pushing hard for their division titles but are not safe by any means in them and they each known that a defeat at this stage of proceedings could be damaging. That should make for an extremely entertaining encounter.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers go into the contest with a 5-2-1 record which has them half a match ahead of the Cincinnati Bengals in the race for the AFC North title. They have won their last four matches and are beginning to line up something of a surge towards the postseason. A win here will put the pressure on their rivals over the weekend.
One of the big things for the Pittsburgh side has been the form of James Connor. When LeVeon Bell went on his rebellious way things could easily unravel for the Steelers but the progression of Connor has stopped that from happening. He is the second ranked rusher in yards this season and when you add him into a wonderful passing game and a solid enough defence it is not hard to see why the Steelers are going along quite nicely.
Carolina Panthers
It is not just the Pittsburgh Steelers who are going along quite nicely. The Carolina Panthers head to Heinz Field with a 6-2 record which sees them one match behind the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South. They also have a winning streak going. They have won their last three matches and are on something of a roll which they will be looking to continue here.
Generally the Panthers have been involved in high scoring matches this season. That probably isn’t a surprise with the quality they have in their offense. One surprising thing is the number of points that they have conceded with them leaking more than 20pts in six of their eight matches. They are usually a little bit tighter than that.

Betting
I think we should get a really good Thursday night game here. It isn’t too often that the Thursday games has two top class teams with good records and tonnes of confidence taking each other on but that certainly appears to be the case with this game so we should get an enjoyable encounter as a result.
The point line here is at 50 but I don’t think that is high enough given the quality of these two offenses. Statistically at least these two sides look ok on defence but in truth those numbers are masked. I don’t think either are particularly special on defence. When you throw in a lack of time to prepare for the opposition and potentially negating their strengths I’m expecting the offenses to go well here. With that in mind I like over 50.5pts in this one.
