A really good Sunday in the NFL ends with one of the most looked forward to matches in the season when the New England Patriots play host to the Green Bay Packers in what could be a special Sunday Night Football.
That means we are going to see two of the best in the quarterback position in the modern era on opposing sides when Tom Brady goes up against Aaron Rodgers and that battle alone makes this a mouth-watering tussle.
New England Patriots
The New England Patriots appear to be clicking into gear quite nicely after an indifferent beginning to the season. They were 1-2 when they lost in Detroit but they have won their last five matches and are now 6-2, in control of the AFC East and in all likelihood already well on their way to another postseason campaign. They face a legitimate test here though so we’ll see what they are made of.
The Patriots offense gets all the plaudits for reasons which are pretty understandable but their defence deserves a bit of love for the amount of turnovers they are forcing and the plays they continue to make at the right time, even if it does not look the strongest set of players when you look at it on paper.
Green Bay Packers
It has not been the season that the Green Bay Packers would have liked so far. When they have won they have had to battle hard to do so and when they have lost they have generally been well beaten so they will be looking to find some consistency from here on in and launch a charge back to the postseason, which still isn’t beyond them even from a 3-3-1 beginning to the season.
The Packers were at the centre of attention in the week when they decided to trade away Ty Montgomery and Haha Clinton Dix which led to some wondering if they were writing off the season. I’m not sure that is the case but it was a clear move that they are thinking about the future which might put a few of those players who are remaining on edge and make them up their game.

Everyone is looking forward to this match and I am certainly no different. This has all the makings of being a match which justifies why we love sport with two top level quarterbacks trying to pick their way through the opposing defence in what could easily turn into a shootout given the quality of the triggermen.
I’m surprised the price of the over 6.5 touchdowns market is as tempting as it is. Both these teams know how to make it to the end zone and while both might be lacking a standout amazing running option that might only mean we see the ball in the air throughout which is probably the best chance of touchdowns. I’m expecting both #12s to combine for seven touchdowns.
