The final match of a long and entertaining Sunday in the NFL 2022 season comes along in the Sunday Night Football which this week sees two of the last three Super Bowl champions battling it out when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Kansas City Chiefs.
That means we have two of the best quarterbacks in the league looking to entertain us in a match which does take place in Tampa Bay despite the carnage that Hurricane Ian has caused in the Florida area throughout the week.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers go into this match off the back of their first defeat of the season. That came against the Green Bay Packers in a pretty ordinary match which was dominated by both defences. In fact, this Tampa Bay offense hasn’t really got going this season as evidenced by the fact that they are yet to score more than 20 points in any match. The flip side of that is their defence has surrendered just 27 points in three games.
There have been excuses for the Buccaneers offense to stumble out of the starting blocks. They have had injuries to their receivers and then the suspension of Mike Evans last week compounded their problems but he returns here and should be joined for the first time this term by Julio Jones and Chris Godwin so the Bucs offense might be at their most potent there. They might need to be because their defence gets its toughest test here.

Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs also go into this match off the back of their opening defeat of the campaign last week. They looked to be serenely cruising through the early stages of the season after two pretty comfortable opening wins, only to run into an Indianapolis Colts who didn’t like that particular script very much and turned the Chiefs over. I say the Colts turned the Chiefs over but in truth Kansas City beat themselves with some indifferent special teams plays.
This feels like a crossroads match for the Chiefs now. If they lose this match and don’t look particularly good in it then the noise regarding Patrick Mahomes not being able to get it done without Tyreeq Hill will grow louder but if they can win this one or cause a top notch Tampa defence problems should they lose then they will at least get cut some slack. Kansas City’s chances will be boosted if their own defence can make some plays and take the heat off of the offense.
Betting
There has been a lot of adversity around the Tampa Bay area this week and I always think that sports teams have a responsibility to bring their community together again in such circumstances and I’ve seen him mention that in the press so that isn’t lost on Tom Brady and I fancy the GOAT to put on a bit of a show in this one and entertain the Tampa people. His offensive options have never looked as good this season as they do here, especially in the passing game, and I think that might be reflected on the scoreboard.
You can get Brady on a 263.5 yards passing line for this match, a line he covered last week without the likes of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Julio Jones and with all three slated to be available for this primetime clash it stands to reason that he will cover again. Brady’s longest completion last week was just 24 yards but he still threw for 271 yards and against a Kansas City defence which can be hit or miss against the pass I fancy Brady will pick them off for at least 264 yards in this one.
