NFL – Week 6 – Sunday Games – Betting Preview

Wow we’re already up to the 6th week of the 2016 NFL season. A couple of games stand out this weekend – both early kickoffs.

Early Games – 1pm Eastern kickoff – 6pm UK time

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Miami Dolphins

This game has mismatch written all over it. Since the blowout loss against the Eagles, the Steelers have returned to form. The return of star running back LeVeon Bell has helped restore balance to the offence. I expect a huge game from the Steelers offence in Miami on Sunday.

The worry for Miami is their linebackers and secondary. LeVeon Bell is a matchup nightmare for the linebackers and the secondary is missing the injured ReShard Jones. I expect the Steelers to feature Bell early then hit WR’s Antonio Brown and Sammie Coates on deep balls.

I can see the Steelers scoring 30+ points and I just don’t see Miami being able to keep up. QB Ryan Tannehill is hit on a higher percentage fo dropbacks than any QB in the AFC. The Steelers will bring blitzes often in the attempt to disrupt timing with WR Jarvis Landry.

The one slight concern is that Pittsburgh play New England in week 7 and in the past they have taken their eye off the ball the week before big showdowns. I think the stunning loss to the Eagles in week 3 was their wake up call and I don’t envisage them letting up here. They could win big.

My tips for this game are the Steelers to cover the spread at -7 and for Antonio Brown for over  87.5 receiving yards.

Cincinnati Bengals at New England Patriots

The Patriots returned to winning ways in week 5 with the return of star QB Tom Brady. The passing game was effective early and often featuring the double headed TE monsters Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett. True, they were playing the Browns, but they also slowed down in the 4th quarter leaving points on the field.

The Bengals were harassed by the Dallas pass-rush in week 5 and basically threw out a stinker. They usually have one or two games each season where nothing works. Now they get the Patriots in New England. They have to get their running game going to stay in this one. Bengals WR AJ Green should have a decent game and could well exceed the 86.5 receiving yard line on offer.

New England are strong favourites to move to 5-1 and I can’t see them losing even at -7 on the spread. I like LaGarrette Blount to exceed the 60.5 rushing yard line that is available. Last week the Cowboy’s running game went well over 150 yards on the Bengals defence. Yes, the Cowboys OL is better than New Englands but the Patriots attack is more balanced and I like Blounts chances of a 100 yard game.
