Premier League 2021-22 – Sunday 17th October Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues with a Super Sunday double header with four teams all looking to come back from the international break with a bang in what should be two very watchable matches.

Three of the top 10 in the division are in action on Sunday afternoon but perhaps all eyes will be on the team who are in the relegation zone after their high profile takeover in the week. There should be a lot to enjoy here.

Where to watch

The two matches come along in the ‘Super Sunday’ programme which will be shown on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League channels. The show begins at 1pm with kick offs coming at 2pm and 4.30pm.

Everton vs West Ham United (14.00)

The double header begins at Goodison Park where two teams with their eye on the top six and beyond meet as Everton host their former manager David Moyes and his entertaining West Ham United side.

These two teams have both made positive starts to the season. I think West Ham have been the better team to watch but there is probably a better structure about Everton, who historically have played very well on their home patch. Injuries have been a bit of an issue for Everton though which might make them a little bit vulnerable here. West Ham will fancy their chances but there doesn’t appear to be much between these two at all so it might well be that the finer margins settle this one. I don’t really want to get involved in that situation.

Newcastle United vs Tottenham Hotspur (16.30)

The second match of the afternoon comes from what is likely to be a loud and buoyant St James’ Park where Newcastle United begin a new era when they play host to a very indifferent Tottenham Hotspur side.

Newcastle fans will be jubilant ahead of this match after finally seeing their club taken over and a brighter future seemingly on the horizon and I would expect that to transmit onto the pitch where the players can offer up a shackles off approach and look to entertain their new owners. They might have a good opponent to dance with here too because Spurs are either terrific or awful with not much in between. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Newcastle win here but I think over 2.5 goals looks a much better bet. Newcastle haven’t kept a clean sheet this season and Spurs carry plenty of goal threat but the last four Tottenham matches have had at least three goals in them. I like the over here.
