Premier League 2022-23 – Wednesday 3rd May Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The midweek action of rearranged Premier League fixtures sees two more matches taking place on Wednesday evening and once again the title race is in the spotlight as well as the race for the European places.

Of the two matches we have one of them live on TV for us in the UK to enjoy and the TV programme should give us regular updates on the other game given that it is likely to impact both ends of the Premier League table.

Manchester City vs West Ham United (20.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The TV cameras will head to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening to see if the champions Manchester City can return to the top of the Premier League table. They will need to beat West Ham United in order to do that, with the Hammers still in need of some points themselves in the battle to beat the drop.

Given their form and the motivation that they will have for this match it is hard to see anything but a Manchester City win here but whether this is a night where they will run up the score remains to be seen. With another match to come on Saturday and a huge Champions League semi-final next week you would imagine the game will be managed when it gets to a comfortable position. West Ham are far enough clear from the drop zone that their intention in this match might be to preserve the goal difference and if they can get anything out of it late on then try to do that. My instinct is to play Manchester City and an under of some kind but I’m well aware that this lot can slaughter a team even when they start rotating personnel so I’ll leave this one alone.

Liverpool vs Fulham (20.00)

The match which takes place away from the TV cameras comes from Anfield where Liverpool will continue to push for a spot in the Champions League next season when they go up against a Fulham side whose own European champions have faded recently.

Fulham were competitive enough against Manchester City at the weekend to suggest that they are not just going to let their campaign fizzle out but the loss came at a price with Tim Ream and Andreas Pereira done for the remainder of the season. That leaves a hole at both ends of the pitch. It might not make a huge amount of difference here because you would imagine Liverpool would have plenty of joy at the top end of the pitch even with Ream around such is the quality and number of options they have and even without Pereira there is such a flaky look to this Liverpool defence, one which has conceded 13 times in its last seven Premier League outings, that Fulham are still likely to get some joy going forward, particularly if Willian is fit to play as expected. I don’t see this being devoid of goals. The reverse meeting was 2-2 at Craven Cottage on the opening day of the season and I think the odds against quotes on over 3.5 goals looks juicy, particularly with the last four matches at Anfield covering that line.
