The traditional Boxing Day fixture list in the Premier League contains eight fixtures over the course of the day, one which sees the competition move even closer to the halfway mark with some really key games taking place.
This is the set of matches that are all live on TV in the UK via the Prime Video service so if you have a bet on any of the games then you have the ability to watch them although you will need multiple devices midway through the day.
Early Kick Off
The day begins at the home of the champions where Manchester City will be looking to turn their alarming drop in form around when they welcome a buoyant Everton to the Etihad Stadium. It is just one win in 12 in all competitions for City now and they are in urgent need of a victory to begin an upturn in fortunes. Everton head to Manchester off the back of five clean sheets in six matches so they will be looking to make things as hard as possible for the champions and potentially pull off what would be a huge upset.
3pm Matches
We have five fixtures taking place in the traditional 3pm slot on Thursday. Second placed Chelsea are on show looking to move to within a point of the leaders Liverpool when they welcome their local rivals Fulham to Stamford Bridge for a game the Blues need to win if they want to be title contenders. Nottingham Forest went into Christmas in a Champions League spot and they could move up to third place in the table for 30 hours or so at least if they can beat a Tottenham Hotspur side who are struggling with injuries and can’t keep the ball out of their net as a result of that.
Newcastle United and Aston Villa have both finished in the top four over the last couple of seasons but both are trailing a little behind those places at present so their meeting at St James’ Park will be a key one. AFC Bournemouth are riding high at the present time and they will hope they can pick up another three points in what has been an excellent campaign when they host Crystal Palace at the Vitality Stadium while the other match sees Southampton beginning life under Ivan Juric when they host West Ham United at St Mary’s Stadium.

Late Games
We are left with a couple of late matches to enjoy in the evening on Boxing Day with the first of them coming from Molineux where Vitor Pereira will manage his first home game as Wolverhampton Wanderers boss. That will come against a Manchester United side who have lost their last two matches in all competitions and will be hoping to turn that around. The leaders Liverpool round off the day when they welcome Leicester City to Anfield for a match where the Reds will be looking to confirm that they begin 2025 on top of the Premier League pile. That will be the case if they win the match. Leicester are now just two points above the drop and could do with a result here to ease their concerns heading into the New Year.
Betting
I’ll take a pair of bets on Boxing Day with the first of them coming in the form of Nottingham Forest to score over 1.5 goals against Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs defence looks there for the taking for a physical Forest side whether that is in open play or via set plays and the 4/5 that they score two or more looks attractive to me. It looks like the two centre-backs are going to be out for Spurs and Archie Gray just doesn’t look a comfortable option in that position and Chris Wood could dominate him aerially. Forest attack well out wide where you can always get to this Tottenham team and there is enough creativity to open them up as well. We never know what we’re going to get from Tottenham but they are conceding goals in large bunches and Forest have scored two or more in their last three games. I’ll back them to make that four here.
The other bet remains on the goals theme where I like over 2.5 of them at Molineux where Wolverhampton Wanderers host Manchester United. Wolves kept a clean sheet on Sunday but it was only at Leicester and you would imagine they will be tested more by a United attack which looks better suited to playing on their travels right now. You wouldn’t say that either of these defences are to be trusted at present and so both teams should be better going forward in this match than defending. You can get 8/11 on over 2.5 goals in this one and that looks acceptable to me.
