The Sky Bet Championship season continues on Wednesday evening when another couple of matches which have been rearranged after being postponed due to Covid last month take place on what could be a big night at both ends of the table.
Although these are rearranged matches, thankfully one of them was originally scheduled to be on the TV which means that it will be again now so we have that to enjoy and I’m sure the coverage will keep us up to date with the other one.
Hull City vs Blackburn Rovers (19.45 – Sky Main Event & Sky Football)
The first match of the evening to kick off is the one which will be in front of the Sky cameras as Hull City look to pull away from danger when they host a rampant Blackburn Rovers side, who right now look like they could be the closest challengers to Fulham in whatever title race there is in this division.
Hull begin the night just four points above the drop zone and the teams below them have games in hand so it is imperative that they pick up a result soon. The problem is they go into this match off the back of a tame defeat to Stoke City at the weekend where they played on the Sunday so have had less time to recover. Blackburn are absolutely flying right now. They have only dropped four points in their last 10 matches and have seen off some good teams on their travels such as Bournemouth. Hull are now five without a win in the Championship and I mentioned the apathy around them ahead of their game against Stoke on Sunday and the atmosphere during that game was non-existent. That isn’t going to cause Blackburn any concerns and their own fans will be making plenty of noise right now. I expect Blackburn to win but as ever with this crazy Championship schedule I’ll take some draw cover.

Reading vs Luton Town (20.00)
The match away from the TV cameras is the one I will be going to as a troubled Reading side host Luton Town at the Madejski Stadium with the home side looking for some points quickly to avoid getting dragged deep into the relegation picture.
The last time Reading played in front of their own fans seven went past them and you sense if Luton start this game well and get ahead early what is left of the home crowd could start to come down on their team. Even if Reading go ahead, we saw on Saturday that there is no guarantees they stay in that position. Luton will be flying heading to Reading. They had a brilliant dramatic win over Bournemouth on Saturday and as long as they have got their feet back on the ground they will feel this is a match they can win despite their terrible record in this stadium. Reading have problems on the field and off it so can’t be feeling good about themselves. It is the exact opposite for Luton who are fancied to win this. I think they will too but I’m a little wary of what Saturday took out of them so at a fairly tight price I’ll just hope they win to make my journey worth it.
