There is one match in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday evening as two clubs look to catch up on a fixture which was cancelled from earlier in the season and it is a big one at the bottom of the table as Blackpool host Huddersfield Town at Bloomfield Road.
These two sides will begin the night in the bottom three of the table. Blackpool will move level on points with Cardiff and have a game in hand with a win while Huddersfield will leap above the Welsh side and out of the relegation zone should they be victorious. There is no TV coverage of this match.
Blackpool
It looked like Blackpool were going to enjoy another campaign of comfortably making the grade in the Championship when they had 22 points from their opening 17 matches but things have gone seriously wrong since then. They have now picked up just four points from a possible 33 in the Championship and although they walloped a much changed Nottingham Forest side in the cup in that time, Michael Appleton has predictably been replaced by Mick McCarthy.
In this 11 match winless spell, Blackpool have only found the net on five occasions so if there is a positive for McCarthy, who is yet to have the new manager bounce he would have been expected to have, then it is that he doesn’t have to look too deep to work out their problem. In fairness to the Tangerines, only Middlesbrough have scored three against them in this indifferent spell, so if they can solve their problems at the top end of the pitch results should start to come along.
Huddersfield Town
This has been a poor season so far for Huddersfield Town and certainly not the way they wanted to back up their run to the play-off final last term. The first quarter of the campaign was wasted with the spell in charge of Danny Schofield and in truth things haven’t got a great deal better from there. Mark Fotheringham has brought a number of players into the club but he hasn’t yet got his side out of the bottom three, although he will do with a win here.
There did look like there might be a Huddersfield revival just after Christmas when they won successive matches, two of just seven wins they have managed all season, but they are still looking for a first win of 2023. Only Cardiff City have scored fewer goals than Huddersfield this term so that is something that will need to be sorted out if they are to get their head above water but it all feels a little chaotic and without a plan from the outside looking in.

Team News
Mick McCarthy has an almost fully fit squad to choose from for what is his first home match in charge of Blackpool. He will be without Marvin Ekpiteta though. Ian Poveda could come into the side after being on the bench at the weekend.
Huddersfield Town boss Mark Fotheringham gave nothing away in his press conference ahead of this match but Duane Holmes and Michal Helik missed the draw with QPR at the weekend and will be monitored in the lead up to this one.
Betting
I think with the position that both of these teams are in currently, this is a match that both should be looking at winning and I think that could lead to a more open game of football than either manager would like. There is an argument that neither team scores many goals and I get that but often they are out of their depth but they won’t be here so I fancy both teams to score as a good thing here. Blackpool have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 matches which is a key statistic for me.
Huddersfield have only kept one in their last eight and that was only against Rotherham which isn’t a massive form guide so both these teams are used to conceding goals at the minute. Huddersfield added a bit of extra firepower in the transfer window to give them a chance going forward and you would think it is only a matter of time before Blackpool put their resources to good use in front of goal. In a match both want to win and neither can afford to lose I think both can find the net before it ends.
