The last match of the current round of Super League fixtures sees the league leaders Castleford Tigers hosting the campaign’s biggest disappointment in the Warrington Wolves at the Mend-a-Hose Jungle.
Castleford have been brilliant to watch this season and after Salford slipped up earlier in the weekend they have the chance to extend their lead at the top. Warrington are in big danger of being relegated out of Super League unless they get their act together soon.
Castleford Tigers
There isn’t a whole lot more that we can say about the Castleford Tigers that hasn’t already been said other than we now know they are the real deal and not flashes in the pan. We found that out last week when Daryl Powell rested a host of star players and yet his side were still too good for an improved St Helens team.
There is every chance Castleford will be on for the Wembley and Old Trafford double for much of this campaign so the fact that they can rest players and still win rugby matches is a big thing for them. Quite simply though when this lot are on their game they are unplayable and that isn’t exaggerating things.
Warrington Wolves
All the positive talk said about Castleford and the brilliance we have seen from them this season you would have to say it has been the total opposite for the Warrington Wolves. They have been horrible this season and they could pay the ultimate price if they are not careful. All this was unthinkable when they beat the Brisbane Broncos in the World Club Series.
Since then it has been a tale of woe though. They have hardly scored any points and they have shipped them at a rate which seems so ridiculous to be true but it is true. They were possibly as bad as they’ve ever been at Huddersfield last weekend and that certainly isn’t what they need heading to a rampant Castleford.
Team News
Daryl Powell will recall the heavy artillery for this match which means we will see Zak Hardaker, Michael Shenton, Luke Gale and Grant Millington back with everyone back in their usual positions.
Tony Smith needed to get players back and he will have former Tigers great Daryl Clark back from suspension. Matty Blythe could feature too which would be a boost as he has been out since March.

Betting
I’m getting nervous about opposing Warrington Wolves because they have to show something soon surely? That said I don’t think it will be against this Castleford Tigers unit. This lot are amazing and at home they really are special and close to impossible to contain.
The margin and manner of Warrington’s defeat to Huddersfield last weekend spoke volumes of where they are at the minute. They are not in a good place whereas Castleford are buzzing. With their big guns back I not only fancy Castleford to win but to run up another huge beating for an established side.
