St Helens vs Salford Red Devils

St Helens have the chance to open up a six point lead at the top of the table in what is fast becoming another regular season procession from them, when they host the Salford Red Devils who are having a pretty decent season given the low expectations on them at the outset.

Saints head into the contest still having lost just one match all season and they slaughtered Huddersfield in the Challenge Cup last week while Salford slipped out of the cup with a defeat to Hull KR despite holding a significant lead at one point in the encounter. There is no James Roby for St Helens in this contest while Pauli Pauli could debut for Salford.

Saints are being asked to concede 14pts in this encounter and I expect them to do that. St Helens won their last Super League match at Hull KR by 16pts which will have just covered this, but their four wins prior to that were by margins of 36, 46, 26 and 26, three of those to sides above Salford in the table. I’ll take the Saints to cover here.

Huddersfield Giants vs Hull KR

The match away from the cameras comes from the John Smith’s Stadium where the Huddersfield Giants and Hull KR do battle in a clash of two sides in the bottom four in the table who both need to put a winning run together to ease their relegation fears.

I wonder if the win Hull KR had in the cup last week would give them the confidence and the belief to deliver the goods in this contest. Huddersfield took a bit of a going over from St Helens and haven’t had oceans of time to recover from that either. I’d wager Rovers are a touch of value here but I’m not really rushing to get involved in this one so I’ll sit this out and just stick with the punt in the TV game.
