Super League XXV – Friday 6th November Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Super League regular season draws to a premature close with a double header of action on Friday evening and although these are the last two matches before the play-offs there is still a lot on the line.

Wigan Warriors are in action on Friday evening and they have the chance to win the League Leaders’ Shield and that will be the centre of attention on a night where two teams certainly finish their campaign and a third is likely to as well.

Where to watch

The double header will be shown live on Sky Sports Mix with the build up to the matches beginning at 5pm and the games themselves starting at 5.30pm and 7.45pm.

Wakefield Trinity vs Salford Red Devils (17.30)

Two sides who are usually very entertaining to watch meet in the opening match of the two on Friday evening as Wakefield Trinity host Salford Red Devils in a clash which is no more than a dead rubber now after the Red Devils were docked three wins earlier in the week.

There was a chance that Salford could finish seventh which would have had them on standby for the play-offs if that is where they finished but there is no chance of that now so this is purely a match to finish off the season for both sides. Hopefully that will mean the ball is given a bit of air and thrown about a bit but given that nobody is playing for anything and this has been a long season, predicting which way this will go is never the easiest so I’ll leave this alone.

Wigan Warriors vs Huddersfield Giants (19.45)

The big match of the night is the second one which sees the Wigan Warriors taking on the Huddersfield Giants with everything on the line for the Warriors. If they win they will land the League Leaders’ Shield and top seed for the play-offs. If they lose they drop to third and don’t even get next week off.

It couldn’t really be much bigger for Wigan based on that. Even if you take the silverware out of the equation, the schedule in recent times has been absolutely crazy so the chance to have next week off and rest some aching limbs really can’t be underestimated. Huddersfield could yet make the play-offs as they are going to finish seventh whatever happens here and if someone like the Catalans Dragons are not able to take their place due to Covid then the Giants would step in but essentially they are not playing for anything here.

That makes me think Wigan can win this and win it quite big and make a statement heading into the play-offs. The handicap requires them to cover 14 points but when you think they have just beaten arguably the best side in the competition in St Helens relatively comfortably I don’t think that target is out of their reach. Huddersfield have lost their last four matches and although they have all been pretty close run things, they might find it hard to get up for this so I fancy Wigan could run riot in this one.
