England finally have the chance to win a trophy on their tour of the West Indies on Friday evening when the two sides play in the second of the three T20s on the schedule. This match was not going to be on TV but thankfully sense has prevailed and Sky are covering it.
England drew first blood in the series with a fine win in St Lucia on Tuesday and they will be looking to sew up the series at the first opportunity here in St Kitts. West Indies know they have to win this match to take it to a decider on Sunday.
West Indies
I think West Indies kind of knew their fate after they had batted in St Lucia. They knew they didn’t put up enough runs but to their credit they fought hard with the bat and took England as deep as they possibly could. They won’t need to be told what they need to do better in this match. In fairness they don’t usually struggle with the bat in this format so they will be out to highlight that the first game was just a blip.
West Indies have some good options with the ball and we’ve seen that throughout the time England have been on their shores. They are likely to have their moments with the ball in hand so it really is about making sure that they have enough runs or chasing if they win the toss and going about their business that way.
England
After the tour they have had England will be delighted to get over the line in St Lucia but they know West Indies will come back at them here. They did that in the ODI series and got back on terms straight away so the tourists should prepare themselves for a bit of a backlash in this second confrontation, as they get ready to attempt to win the series.
England bowled very well in that opening match. Against this West Indies side you need to keep taking wickets at regular intervals as if you allow a partnership to build this side can take a match away in a couple of overs. England also showed plenty of poise with the bat as they held their nerve nicely in the run chase and got over the line positively.
Team News
West Indies have replaced Andre Russell in the squad with Obed McCoy coming into the mix. Whether he finds his way into the side or not remains to be seen. Ashley Nurse could be vulnerable if he does come in.
England rested Mark Wood in the first game but you would think they would want to get another game into him otherwise he may as well have gone home. He could come in for David Willey who didn’t really play much of a part in the first game.

Betting
A feature of this tour has been the insane number of sixes that have been hit in the limited overs matches. There were more than 80 in the five ODI matches and there were 13 more in the first T20 and that wasn’t exactly a high scoring match. I’m expecting those sixes to continue to flow here too so I’m a little surprised that the line is only 15.5 for this match.
This ground in St Kitts has a very short straight boundary so sixes flow pretty naturally here. In the four CPL matches here last season the sixes totals were 16, 22, 15 and 17. Both these sides have already shown their six hitting prowess so I’m expecting there to be another 16 at the very least. I like the over in this contest.
