The final match of week seven in the NFL campaign as ever comes in the Monday Night Football and once again we have a divisional clash to enjoy to round off the weekend. This week the Philadelphia Eagles play host to the Washington Redskins.
The Eagles will become the new number one team in the NFC if they can win this match and they would take a real stranglehold on the NFC East. The Redskins will keep their divisional hopes alive with a win and get them right back into the mix.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles head into this contest with a 5-1 record with their only defeat on the season coming against a Kansas City Chiefs side who are decent themselves. Even in that game they gave as good as they got so the home side should be feeling very good about themselves heading into this one, especially having won four on the bounce.
Carson Wentz has come alive this season with the good protection he has been afforded and the Eagles defence has really stepped up to the mark which is never a bad combination. Given that Alshon Jeffrey has not hit the expected heights yet this season there could be even more to come from them when he comes good too.
Washington Redskins
Washington head into the contest with a winning record courtesy of successes over the Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers with defeats to the Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs providing them with a 3-2 record to take into the match. A win here would move them to within a win of overtaking the Eagles in the NFC East.
The Redskins have displayed a real intent to get a running game going this season but they still have the deeper threats down the field which make their offense tough to face but there are concerns on the other side of the ball. The pass rush has stalled and the injury to Josh Norman could leave the secondary exposed.

Betting
I’m rarely a fan of predicting the outcome of divisional battles at the best of times let alone in this season of all seasons. We’ve already seen a bit of a shock in one on Thursday night and another one in Los Angeles on Sunday night and the different dimension these matches offer could see Washington outperform expectations so I’ll go to a side market for a bet.
The bet I like is the receiving yards line for Nelson Agholor. At 45.5 it looks incredibly low when you consider that not only has he covered it in his last three outings but he also caught for 86 yards in the week one meeting between these two sides. He is averaging 16.1 yards per catch so on that evidence three catches will seal the deal here. Wentz will have the freedom to target more receivers in Norman’s absence but Agholor should see enough of the ball to clear 45.5 yards.
