2018-19 Premier League – Sunday 21st April Matches Betting Preview

It is another huge day in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as the battle for the title and the race to finish in the top four takes another chapter over the course of what really does look like being a ‘Super Sunday’.

We have three matches over the course of the afternoon with two of them live on TV for those of us in the UK. The other one will have more than enough ways to follow it and be updated on so there is much to enjoy.

Everton vs Manchester United

The action begins with the top four battle in focus when Manchester United make the short trip to Goodison Park to face Everton needing to win to keep up their challenge for a place in the Champions League next season.

After their exit from Europe in midweek, unlike all of their rivals for the top four, the league is their only way of being in Europe’s elite next term so these matches are massive for United. They go up against an Everton side who are the very definition of inconsistency this season, but who have found a bit of form at home in recent times. I have to say neither of these teams convince me so I’m happy to leave this one well alone.

Cardiff City vs Liverpool

The second match in front of the cameras sees Liverpool looking for the three points that will move them back to the top of the Premier League table when they head to face a Cardiff City side who need the points in their survival battle.

Cardiff will be buoyed by their win in Brighton in midweek which pretty much kept their survival hopes alive but having seen the Seagulls pick up a point on Saturday, they need to keep getting results of their own. Liverpool will be expected to win this match but the pressure is on them after City came past Tottenham earlier in the weekend.

There was talk of Cardiff taking the game to Liverpool earlier in the week but I don’t see that being the case now. This is no longer a free hit for them so they have to take something from the game, even if it is only a point. I expect Cardiff to take as much time out of the game as they can here and make it as awkward as possible for the Reds. Ultimately though Liverpool should be too good here. I suspect after a bit of travelling this week Liverpool will just want to win rather than run up the score so Liverpool win and under 3.5 goals will do me.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace

The match that is away from the cameras on Sunday afternoon is a London derby where Arsenal will look to move above their rivals Tottenham into third place and consolidate their chances of finishing in the top four to take away the pressure on their Europa League campaign.

Crystal Palace don’t have a whole lot to play for other than a bit of pride and to showcase their abilities in the spring sunshine but I’m expecting them to be dangerous with no pressure on them. With that in mind I’ve got to think goals are likely here. Palace are one of the most dangerous teams in the league on the counter attack but they are missing two key defenders to give Arsenal plenty of encouragement in attacking areas, not that they need that.

Given the attacking potential in both teams here I’m surprised we can get 10/11 on more than three goals on the Asian lines for this one. Both teams are likely to score in this game, or threaten to at the very least, while both are capable of scoring three themselves. I’ll play the over.
