After three weeks of intense action and some amazing high quality tennis the Sunshine Swing comes to an end on Sunday evening when the ATP Miami Open final takes place at the Crandon Park complex.
Alexander Zverev will look for a third Masters Series 1000 title when he takes on the heavy serving John Isner who is looking for his first crown at this level. Both men have stood out so far this week and should combine for a decent final.
Alexander Zverev
After a dodgy defeat in Indian Wells a couple of weeks ago, it is fair to suggest that the big German was nothing like his best in the early stages of this tournament but since labouring past David Ferrer he has exploded into life and he has come through the last three rounds without dropping a set and if anything he has got stronger in that time.
His best performance came when he blitzed Nick Kyrgios in the fourth round but he also took care of Borna Coric and Pablo Carreno Busta in final style in the quarter final and the semi-final. We are beginning to see every side of his game and to be fair it is all working which bodes well not just for this final but also for the clay court season.
John Isner
Much like his opponent in this final, John Isner came to Miami with doubts over his form and his confidence looked low but he has completely turned that on its head and if anything he has actually been the most impressive man in the tournament so far. He has seen off two standout stars in Marin Cilic and Juan Martin del Potro and is after another top 10 scalp here.
While Isner is renowned for his big serve he has been a lot more than just that this week. He has creamed the ball from the back of the court much better this week and his doubles success at Indian Wells last week looks to have given him plenty of confidence in the forecourt. He’s had a day off so he will have to maintain his form over that time but he’s played well thus far.
Head to Head
These two have met three times in the past and it is Alexander Zverev who has come out on top on all three occasions. Their two meetings last year, one here and one on the clay, both went to a deciding set. Their clash here a year ago actually went to three tiebreak sets which could highlight that we’re in for a tight final.

Betting
I look at the prices for the match betting and they look about right to be honest whereas I don’t really want to take handicaps with tiebreaks likely to be the order of the day here. Given all that I’m off to the side markets for a bet.
Four of the last six sets these two have played against each other have been decided on a tiebreak so there could be plenty of value in the odds against on the opening set going the distance in this match. Zverev won the first set of his semi-final on a breaker while Isner nailed the second set of his semi with one. Earlier in the tournament Isner won the first set on a tiebreak against Jiri Vesely and Marin Cilic. The 5/4 on a first set tiebreak looks a shade too big to ignore.
