The big names enter the Austrian Darts Open on Saturday as the fifth European Tour event of the year goes up a notch out in Graz on what has the makings of being one of the best days of darts of the calendar year to date.
All the star attractions have entered the tournament this weekend which means that there is stacks of quality on show throughout two potentially extremely competitive sessions of play over the course of the day.
Afternoon Session
The day begins with the rapid one Ricky Evans taking on the dangerous qualifier Darius Labanauskas before two evenly matched men do battle when Joe Cullen takes on the former world champion Mark Webster. Michael Smith will then look to make his mark on the tournament when he faces Steve Beaton before Daryl Gurney leads us into the afternoon interval when he goes up against the Russian World Cup star Boris Koltsov.
After the break we have the match of the afternoon when Dave Chisnall meets the UK Open champion Nathan Aspinall. Jonny Clayton then begins the defence of his title when he goes up against Tytus Kanik before the afternoon rounds off with Adrian Lewis up against Ryan Searle and Darren Webster battling it out with Stephen Bunting in what looks like another decent contest.
Evening Session
Gerwyn Price has the honour of opening up the evening session when he takes on John Henderson before two real cracking contests take to the stage. Former world champion Rob Cross meets the extremely dangerous Jeffrey de Zwaan before Peter Wright meets Chris Dobey. Michael van Gerwen takes us to the break when he plays the talented Irish star Steve Lennon for a place in the last 16 on Sunday.
James Wade leads us out of the interval when he goes up against Nervyn King in a battle which has plenty of history in it before the match of the round takes place as the home favourite Mensur Suljovic faces Raymond Barneveld to whom every match at this level is important for his latter season prospects. The last two matches on the evening sees Ian White facing Jamie Hughes and Max Hopp going up against Keegan Brown.

Betting
I’ll go with a couple of bets on Saturday and they both come in the evening session. The first of them is Chris Dobey to beat Peter Wright. Dobey had to fend off a raft of match darts in his win over Andrew Gilding on Friday but I expect him to kick on having been given another chance here. Peter Wright is in no form whatsoever and looks to be really fighting some demons within his game at the minute so the last thing he needs is to be playing a bright upstart who is on the rise and full of confidence. I get why Wright is the favourite here but Dobey looks a good bet at the prices.
Keegan Brown lost to Max Hopp in a recent European Tour event but I think he can get his revenge on Saturday evening. Brown whacked in eight 180s in his win over Conan Whitehead on Friday and I don’t care who you are that scoring power is scary. Hopp is a talented player but although he beat Brown recently he hasn’t done a huge amount in recent times. Brown didn’t really show up in that match but if Friday is anything to go by then he will certainly lay it down to the German here. I’ll go with Brown at odds against.
