2021 Nitto ATP World Tour Finals – Singles & Doubles Finals Tips and Betting Preview

It is the final day of the season on the ATP Tour on Sunday when the singles and doubles champions of the Nitto ATP World Tour Finals will be crowned to cap off the first week of the staging of the tournament in Turin.

We saw both number one seeds bite the dust in the semi-finals on Saturday which should make for a tense and extremely competitive day of tennis in the Italian city as the champions get crowned in the biggest event of the season outside the majors.

Rajeev Ram & Joe Salisbury vs Nicolas Mahut & Pierre-Hugues Herbert

The doubles final starts the day of action off and it puts the US Open champions against the French Open winners as Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury take on Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert for the second time this week.

These two were in the same group in the initial stage of the tournament and it was the American-British pair who won something of an epic contest in the match tiebreak and I don’t think it would surprise anyone should this match go the distance either. These are two of the best doubles teams in the world but Ram and Salisbury are looking to win this title for the first time, while Mahut and Herbert are looking to regain the crown that the won in 2019. They didn’t qualify last year so you could say they are looking to keep their fine record in this event intact. I don’t think there is going to be much between these two teams but I’m hoping the French pair can come through because I backed them outright at 11/2 at the start of the week. I don’t need to get involved any further in this one.

Daniil Medvedev vs Alexander Zverev

Two men who have enjoyed wonderful second parts of the year meet for the singles title on Sunday when the defending champion Daniil Medvedev looks to be the first man in six years to successfully defend the title. He takes on the Olympic champion Alexander Zverev who won this title in 2018 in what should be an excellent final.

These two met in the group stage of this tournament and we were treated to an epic contest, one which Daniil Medvedev won in the final set tiebreak. That extended his current winning run between the two to five successive victories but in three of those matches Zverev has taken it to a decider so there is every reason to suggest that this will be a tight final. That is reflected in the games line which if you want decent odds is 23.5 games. I still fancy that will be covered but I’ll go with a different bet for this contest, which comes in the shape of the aces where the line is 20.5.

These two belted down 32 aces in that opening meeting between the pair this week and I am not surprised at that. They both have plenty of heat on their first serve and are hitting their spots well this week. Zverev bashed 14 aces against the best returner of serve there’s been in Novak Djokovic in the semi-final whereas Djokovic himself hit 15 aces in that match and he isn’t known for a big serve. If we get a third set in this final you sense this line will be obliterated, but given that it was covered in the second set when they met earlier in the week, I like the over here.
