The final match of the Caribbean Premier League season at Warner Park takes place when the tournament resumes on Tuesday evening as the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots face up to the Barbados Tridents.
The top four have now been determined so there is nothing competitive on this match especially with St Kitts and Nevis now unable to make it into the top two ahead of the play-offs.
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have had to dodge the rain a little in their home leg of the tournament although the rain actually came to their advantage in the previous match when a 20 over run chase looked beyond them. A shortened one certainly helped them somewhat and to be fair to them they took full advantage.
I still have concerns over their top order and the speed and tempo that they have been batting at but they should have the chance to go out and swing the bat here with nothing on whether they win or lose. Their bowling is getting better albeit they took a bit of a pasting in the last match. We shouldn’t forget they were backing up a match from the night before in that game though.
Barbados Tridents
Having failed to win any of their five home matches the Barbados Tridents now know their fate this term. They will not qualify for the play-offs and need to win their final two matches to ensure they don’t finish bottom of the table. How much of a motivation that is remains to be seen but you’d like to think their pride would kick in.
Barbados simply have not put up the required level of runs in this tournament and that has ultimately been their downfall. It will be interesting to see if they are able to play with a bit of freedom now and let their shoulders go and put up a decent score. If they do manage to do that they have the attack to be competitive.
Team News
There is no huge reason why the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will make any changes for this match unless they want to rest any ahead of the play-offs. I would imagine they will name their strongest side though to get some more confidence into them.
Barbados Tridents will be without Steve Smith who has been ruled out of the rest of the competition. They might be short of options to make too many changes for this match.

Betting
This doesn’t really feel like a match to get massively involved in. I say that because it is a dead rubber and the motivation of both sides has to be up in the air and the other reason is because the rain keeps getting involved in this part of the world. With that in mind I’ll go with a man of the match bet for interest but that is it.
Mahmudullah played the sort of innings in the previous match that should see him elevated up the order. We saw in that knock that he is capable of giving it a bit of Reggie Biffington and we’ve also seen in the tournament that he can bowl some handy off spin. Barbados have struggled against spin throughout the competition so he could be handy with the ball. He’s 20/1 to be the man of the match here and that looks a touch big given the confidence he’ll be carrying from the previous match.
