We’ve covered the top American market ahead of the start of the Ryder Cup and now it is time to tackle the European equivalent. If recent competitions are anything to go by we’re going to need quite a few points if our player is to win the market but as ever there is an element of luck about things.

Betting
Much of what I mentioned in the American preview applies in this one so we’re looking for players who will play most of the matches. In fact I think only Rory McIlroy will play all five for Europe as Darren Clarke has regularly mentioned about being fresh on Sunday.
McIlroy is a little short for my liking especially having played last week so he could very well tire at some point and the pressure of being Europe’s talisman is a big one to carry but he’ll have had plenty of time to prepare for that and in Andy Sullivan he has a partner he has requested. His price is still on the short side.
There is nobody who Clarke has left out in the morning session that I’d want to be on so I’m going to ride the McIlroy wave and take his likely playing partner for much of the event in Andy Sullivan. If McIlroy goes well Sullivan will too and then if the Englishman wins his singles match he’ll be in a very good position. At 16/1 he’s the best value against the 7/2 of McIlroy and I’ll indulge as such.
