2017 World Cup of Darts – Day 2 Betting Preview

The first round of the PDC World Cup of Darts comes to a close in Frankfurt on Friday night and among the sides making their bow in the tournament are defending champions England and the hosts Germany which should ensure a decent night of action.

All of the seeds are going to be on tenterhooks on Friday night after the shock exit of Scotland at the hands of Singapore on Thursday night will have sent shockwaves through the draw. In this format nobody is safe.

Early Matches

The second night begins with a USA side who have drastically underachieved in recent years taking on an Italy team who will want to make a name for themselves. Hungary take on the former world champion John Part and his Canada side in the second match of the night before Austria face China. South Africa then go up against Sweden in one of the more even matches of the evening.

Later Matches

Brazil will make their tournament debut in game five of the second night. Their story is a wonderful one which is likely to get a lot of coverage especially if they can see off Switzerland. Tournament hosts Germany then begin their campaign with a tricky match against Northern Ireland before the night concludes with England taking on Gibraltar and the Netherlands facing the Czech Republic.

Betting

We saw on the opening night that this best of nine leg doubles format is no respecter of reputation so I’m certainly not going to steam into anything short here. There are a couple of sides who could pull off shocks such as Italy and Germany but I’ll stick with what looks a solid one.

Sweden leader Magnus Caris has suddenly lit up his form and I would expect him to be the best player of the four on stage when they take on South Africa. Devon Petersen is capable of brilliance but we’ve seen little of it in recent times and we know nothing of his partner Deon Oliver. Daniel Larsson should be a good foil for the form man Caris and at a shade under even money if Caris continues his good form I would expect Sweden to progress.

Tips

Back Sweden to beat South Africa for a 4/10 stake at 1.91 with Betfred
